SEMA PLEDGES WAR AGAINST WIDOW OPPRESSION
Hadija who is 59 years old lived with her late husband Said A. Sinda at Mrama Village, in a polygamous family with two wives. Her husband passed away in 2016; thereafter she was kicked out of her family by his husbands children with reason that she did not have any child with their father therefore she doesn’t deserve any of the portion of inheritance from the family.
“After the long term torture from this family they decided to kick me out of their home early, 2017” kept on speaking Bi. Hadija. After being kicked out she decided to leave the place to her home land leaving behind all she deserves house, farm land, plot and furniture.
By July, 2017 she heard of the legal aid from the neighbour whereby she went to IPAC _Ilongero meeting Ms. Innocensia Mkenga for Legal Aid. After a long challenge in consulting her family, Ms.Mkenga managed to make number of meetings with the family and village government for disputes settling.
To date the issues has been settled whereby Bi Hadija wa provided with one plot of land for her house construction, share form one house sold worthy 800,000Tsh and her furnitures and currently she is living at her own house with purely happy life.
“I am very happy living here since I have peace of mind than in the previous house” Says Bi. Hadija when visited by SEMA Team at her own home.
